At Denali Dental Care, we have a lot of patients with questions about Invisalign treatment. To save you a trip to the dentist to answer your questions, we compiled our top Invisalign FAQs for you to review. If you still have questions about Invisalign treatment in Anchorage, feel free to contact our dentist office.
1. Can Anyone Get Invisalign?
One of the top Invisalign FAQs we receive is if Invisalign is for everyone. The answer is no. Invisalign treatment is only meant to treat mild or moderate cases. To find out if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign treatment, schedule a consultation with our dentist. Generally, Invisalign treatment can help gapped, crowded, or crooked teeth but not complicated bite problems. Our dentist might recommend traditional metal braces if your condition is too severe.
2. Is Invisalign Noticeable?
No. Invisalign is completely discreet. The Invisalign aligners are made of thin, clear plastic. Once you place the aligners over your teeth, they are hardly noticeable. Since the plastic is clear, nobody will notice your aligners unless they are extremely close to your face. If you’re looking for a discreet way to straighten your teeth, Invisalign is the perfect option.
3. Can I Eat Anything with Invisalign?
Yes! One of the benefits of Invisalign treatment is having the ability to eat whatever you want for the duration of your treatment. Invisalign aligners should be removed each time you eat. Once they are out, feel free to snack on your favorite chewy, crunchy foods you wouldn’t normally be allowed to eat with traditional braces.
4. How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Take?
Each patient has a different treatment time frame. Generally, a full treatment takes anywhere from 6 months to 2 years to complete. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Morrell to learn how long your treatment will take.
5. How Do I Take Care of My Aligners?
Don’t eat or drink anything but water when you have your aligners in. It’s important to brush your teeth after every meal before you place your aligners back in your mouth. At night and in the morning, clean your aligners with mild toothpaste or with Invisalign cleaning crystals to disinfect them. This will keep them clean and bacteria-free throughout your treatment. Make sure to never use hot water on them because it can warp the plastic. If you happen to break or lose your aligners, tell your dentist immediately so they can order you a new set.
6. What Happens After I Finish My Invisalign Treatment?
Once your treatment is complete, we will instruct you to wear a retainer at night to keep your teeth straight for the rest of your life. Each patient may have different retainer instructions depending on their individual treatment.
